Kratom Tea near Denver: What to Expect

Kratom gets talked about a lot and explained very little. This guide covers the basics honestly: what it is, how it's served, what the law in Colorado says, and what you should know before you try it.
What is kratom?
Kratom is a tropical tree, Mitragyna speciosa, in the same plant family as coffee. It grows in Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia, where the leaves have traditionally been chewed or brewed into tea.
At BulaBula we serve kratom the traditional way, as brewed tea, hot or iced.
What does kratom tea feel like?
It depends on the person, the strain and the amount. People commonly describe smaller servings as more uplifting and larger servings as more relaxing. Because responses vary, the sensible approach is the same one we suggest for kava: start small and give it time.
Red, white, green and gold
Kratom is usually sold by color. On our menu:

How to order your first kratom tea
- Start with a 12 oz House Brew. It's the simplest drink we make: brewed kratom tea in your choice of strain.
- Choose a strain. Not sure? Tell us what kind of day you're having and we'll suggest one.
- Sip it slowly and give it 15 minutes before deciding whether you want more.
- Leave the extract shots for later. They're concentrated and strong.

Is kratom legal in Colorado?
Yes. Colorado regulates kratom under SB25-072, signed in May 2025. In short, the law:
- sets a minimum age of 21 to buy kratom,
- requires clear labeling, and
- limits concentrated and synthetic products, including a cap on 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Some cities and towns set their own rules, so what's allowed can vary by location. BulaBula is in Lakewood and serves kratom only to guests 21 and over.
The risks, plainly
We'd rather you hear this from us than find out later.
- Kratom can be habit-forming, especially with frequent use.
- It can cause side effects such as nausea, dizziness and constipation.
- The FDA has not approved kratom for any medical use and has warned consumers about its risks.
- Don't combine it with alcohol, sedatives or other medication.
- Don't use it if you're pregnant or nursing.
- Talk to your doctor first if you have a health condition.
We don't make medical claims about kratom, and you should be cautious of anyone who does.
